SUDBURY, Mass., June19, 2003 – SpeechStudio, the leading provider of toolsets for developing, testing and delivering speech recognition in Windows applications, and Acoustic Magic, the leading supplier of desktop array microphones, have agreed to work together on products to accelerate hands-free computing.
Stephen Zeigler, CEO of SpeechStudio, states, “Our customers want to help people with busy hands and eyes: doctors, soldiers, housewives, scientists, even CEOs. The Voice Tracker™ Array Microphone is a breakthrough for Voice Control because it is effective both when the user is engaged at a desk, or is far from the keyboard. Its ability to follow the talker throughout the room is unique.”
According to Bob Feingold, CEO of Acoustic Magic, “SpeechStudio is ‘tuning’ its software to optimize recognition through an array microphone. High accuracy, combined with Speech Studio’s fundamental understanding of the architecture required for Voice Control, will accelerate the development of products for this market.”

About Acoustic Magic, Inc. (www.Acoustic Magic.com). Acoustic Magic, located just outside Boston, has developed the patented Voice Tracker™ Array microphone, which it has been selling since February 2002. Visit www.Acoustic Magic.com or Contact Us Here.
Enclosed in a sleek charcoal gray casing, the Voice Tracker™ fits unobtrusively under a computer monitor. Its unique technology locates a talker, and electronically steers a “listening beam”, like an acoustic searchlight, in that direction. This creates spatial filtering; sounds from other parts of the room are not picked up. This noise reduction, coupled with increased sensitivity since the Voice Tracker’s eight microphone elements are utilized continuously and constructively, give the Voice Tracker™ outstanding range and sound quality.
The Voice Tracker™ is the only array microphone certified by both Scansoft (for use with NaturallySpeaking) and IBM (for use with ViaVoice). It is the only array microphone on the market that can scan a full 180 degrees. The Voice Tracker™ can be connected to a PC through the sound card, or through the USB port (with an optional USB adapter).
SUDBURY, Mass., April 1 – The Voice Tracker™ farfield array microphone is being used by customers of Centra Software (NASDAQ: CTRA), a leading provider of application software and services for real-time enterprise collaboration (RTEC), to replace headsets and facilitate more comfortable VoIP conferencing & collaboration.
“Centra has tested the Voice Tracker™ and it works well,” said John Walsh, Vice President of Product Development for Centra Software. “It can be an effective alternative for certain people that don’t want to use a headset, or for companies that want to have a group of people together in a room participating in a live, online conference or meeting, without using headsets.”
According to Bob Feingold, Founder of Acoustic Magic, Inc., The Voice Tracker™ is effective in VoIP conferencing for two reasons. First, the Voice Tracker’s spatial filtering and wide field of view enables long-range pickup, covering large conference rooms. Second, its Location Dependant Squelch (LDS) feature eliminates the echo to the far end that normally occurs with conventional far field microphones.
Enclosed in a sleek charcoal gray casing, the Voice Tracker™ fits unobtrusively under a computer monitor, or on a shelf or table.
Since the Voice Tracker™ knows the location of the talker, its processor can be instructed to ignore sounds coming from outside a specified Field of View. In the LDS mode, the Voice Tracker™ detects pauses in the conversation and turns off the microphone. The Voice Tracker™ will turn on again as soon as it hears sounds from within the field of view. If the speakers are placed to the side of the microphone (as they normally are), sounds from the speakers will be outside the Field of View and will not turn on the microphone. Therefore the microphone does not pick up the talker from the other end of the line, and there is no echo.
The Voice Tracker™ can steer from one talker to the next in a few milliseconds. The Voice Tracker™ can be connected to a PC through the sound card, or through the USB port (with an optional USB adapter). More product detail is available at //www.AcousticMgaic.com.

Auckland, NZ, October 21 – WinScribe has tested and “Certified” the Voice Tracker array microphone from Acoustic Magic, the first in a new Class of microphones that, together with SW from WinScribe, will extend applications in digital recording and speech recognition.
Dale Matravers, WinScribe’s International Business Development Manager states: “We are excited about the combination of the Voice Tracker™ with our recording SW for two reasons. First, the Voice Tracker™ enables hands-free or headset free dictation; and second, because the Voice Tracker’s long effective range, it enables quality recording in large areas like boardrooms, courtrooms, operating theaters, etc.”

This noise reduction, coupled with increased sensitivity since the Voice Tracker’s eight microphone elements are utilized continuously and constructively, give the Voice Tracker™ outstanding range and sound quality.
According to Bob Feingold, CEO of Acoustic Magic, “a measure of the Voice Tracker’s effectiveness at long range is the fact that voice control has been demonstrated in 22 ft X 17 ft rooms, even with the TV on!”

SUDBURY, Mass., September 28 – HomeSeer Technologies LLC has begun marketing the Voice Tracker™ Microphone, which enables voice interaction with HomeSeer’s home automation software from ranges of 20 feet or more.
According to Richard Helmke, President of HomeSeer Technologies, the Voice Tracker’s sensitivity and noise reduction capabilities significantly extends the effective range of voice control. “During tests in a 17 ft X 22 ft family room, we were able to control the television, control the lights, etc. from any seating position. It even worked with the television on!”
HomeSeer users are equally enthusiastic. As an example, in a public Message Board comment, Daniel Norris says: “You don’t have to face the mic. You don’t have to TALK LIKE THIS to get a response! I get better responses by talking in a quiet normal voice even from across the room. I love it.”
Enclosed in a sleek charcoal gray casing, the Voice Tracker™ fits unobtrusively under a computer monitor or on a shelf or table and employs a “listening beam” that electronically follows talkers located in different positions around the room. The beam acts as an acoustic searchlight, picking up voices but spatially filtering out background noise.

Praxis users can now work “hands free”
Los Angeles, California. – August 19, 2002 – Infor*Med Medical Information Systems, the makers of the Praxis® EMR, announced today that it has entered a partnership agreement with Acoustic Magic to sell the patented Voice Tracker™ array microphone with its Praxis Medical Records Software.
The Voice Tracker™ is the first professional grade array microphone which has been certified by both ScanSoft for use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking™ and IBM for use with ViaVoice.
The Voice Tracker™ forms a listening beam (like a searchlight), which locates and electronically steers toward the talker. This spatial filtering reduces background noise, creating a very high signal-to-noise ratio, which results in low recognition errors, long range and fast response. Users no longer need to be tethered by a headset, or encumbered by a handheld microphone.
PRAXIS, from Infor*Med Corporation, is the number one selling Electronic Medical Program in the small and medium size practices, and the ONLY EMR using a CONCEPT PROCESSOR to speed up charting, while increasing the quality of the written output.
According to Richard Low, M.D., Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Infor*Med, “it is critically important for a physician to work ‘hands-free’ in his environment, so that his main concern is only his patient. Voice Tracker™ enables medical practitioners to use voice recognition software, such as Dragon Naturally Speaking®, to enter information into Praxis. Voice Tracker™ is the first array microphone I have used that works effectively in a physician’s office.”
About Infor*Med. Infor*Med is a leading innovator of Electronic Medical Records software in the new billion dollar medical information industry. Praxis, Infor*Med’s only product, utilizes a company developed technology known as Concept Processing which stands to become the standard of medical information in the world, revolutionizing the practice of medicine of the XXI Century. Founded in 1991, Infor*Med has its headquarters in Woodland Hills, California. Praxis is a registered Infor*Med trademark. //www.infor-med.com
